Geocoding & Georeferencing of address data
Pinpointing address locations instantly
For many areas of government, it is essential to know not just where a person lives or the address of a property, but also exactly where that is located geographically. For example, the emergency services must be able pinpoint the address of an incident on a map instantly.
QAS, in conjunction with ESRI, allows data that an organisation holds to be accurately geocoded down to individual property level. Each new address captured will automatically have an ADDRESSPOINT grid reference. This enables an address to be converted instantly into an exact point on a map.
At a more sophisticated level, taking a database of addresses, adding a grid
reference to each record and plotting them on a map turns address records into
dynamic information. The data is now no longer just an address but the exact
reference point of a domestic disturbance/fire/emergency ensuring timely
deployment of resources such as a police car or ambulance. It is also recorded
accurately in the database for any spatial analysis performed at a later stage.
