Software-as-a-service 'coming of age'
May 27 2009, 23:56 PM
Software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications have "come of age", according to a supplier of hosted CRM programs.
Liquid Thought has claimed that "subtle and important" alterations in the relationship between vendors and customers, as well as a range of new security features have made the technology attractive to businesses.
Citing an increase in major vendors offering the option of hosted software, the specialist in this delivery method also suggested that global economic downturn had made the product's greater flexibility important.
Roger Strain, managing director of Liquid Thought, believes that SaaS has managed to hurdle its main obstacles.
He said: "If you're considering any kind of software investment, from now on you should always seek to include hosted services as one of the options you evaluate."
At the beginning of this month, Gartner Research forecast that international incomes generated by SaaS will increase by more than one-fifth this year.
