Private cloud computing 'an option for data warehouses'
Feb 9 2011, 14:56 PM
Private cloud computing solutions are increasingly being considered by companies looking to improve their data warehouses.
This is according to a new report from IT analyst Gartner, which explained businesses now have the option to make use of either outsourced data warehouses or related software-as-a-service products if they wish.
It added those organisations opting to base their warehouse in the cloud still see it primarily as an "infrastructure design option"
"A data model must still be developed, an integration strategy must be deployed and business intelligence user access must be enabled and managed," the study said.
But it added that private cloud computing is becoming a more popular choice, as companies look to support analytics work in their data warehouse.
Another recent report from Gartner explained a growing number of companies are turning to cloud computing infrastructure and forecast 7.5 per cent revenue growth for the global enterprise software market this year.
