Integrated BI platform launched

- Oct 9 2008, 01:52 AM

Business objects has released a new platform which it says better integrates with data in non-SAP software and databases, like those from Oracle.

BusinessObjects XI 3.1 attempts to illustrate that SAP will continue to provide new business intelligence (BI) capabilities for non-SAP customers.

With this BI programme, users can now connect to the Oracle E-Business Suite and design, schedule and distribute reports based on the data model.

Pierre Leroux, Business Objects product marketing manager, said that the group wants to deliver its commitment to be open on all sources.

He said: "We're demonstrating to people that we're making continuous investments in our platform, and making sure customers in other environments are not left wondering, 'what's happening with my platform'."

The software company purchased the BI vendor around a year ago, although it does still operate separately.

Last month, silicon.com suggested that Australian vendors specialising in BI could be about to experience a boom, as a result of the global financial crisis.
