IDC: ERP increases transparency
Jun 1 2009, 23:44 PM
Investing in existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) software can give an organisation full transparency in its operations.
That is according to the technology analyst IDC, which has suggested that continuing investment into database software allow companies to take advantage of innovations in their sector.
Citing the notorious complexity of ERP systems that makes it difficult for businesses to adapt it to their specifications, the market intelligence firm suggested that a failure to improve this architecture can lead to data problems.
Bo Lykkegaard, program director of enterprise applications at IDC, said: "The customer with an aging, customised ERP version is not able to take advantage of new modules or other innovations from their vendor."
ERP systems are implemented throughout a company and provide customers with a range of applications, including warehouse management and customer relationship management software.
