IBM unveils cloud package

- Oct 8 2008, 23:31 PM

IBM has announced a variety of cloud computing offerings that it claims will allow Australian users to better manage data and make collaboration easier.

As part of a new cloud initiative, IBM has bundled its Sametime Unyte product into the virtualised environment, providing a collaboration tool that allows for the sharing of data.

Other products to be placed in the cloud include; Policy Tester OnDemand, which reduces online risks; Telelogic Focal Point, which centralises product information shared by marketing teams; and Lotus Sametime which allows people working in email to join web conferences.

The technology company revealed that this strategy was inspired by customer feedback, which indicted that there is a growing desire to utilise data, applications and services from any device in any location.

A spokesperson for IBM said: "We are moving our clients, the industry and even IBM itself to have a mixture of data and applications that live in the data centre and in the cloud."
