Google reveals crucial ecommerce dates

Search engine giant Google has revealed a series of crucial ecommerce dates in the run up to the Christmas period.
It stated that December 4th, 11th and 16th are all very important dates to Australian online retailers looking to maximise their profits as people look to order gifts and festive items online.
According to Google, the 4th of the month is the date when the international shopping window closes and people start to look at local stores, while the 11th is when people start to worry about receiving their gifts on time, creating an opportunity for retailers who can guarantee delivery by the 24th, reports Power Retail.
By the 16th, people are getting frantic as this is the last date many shops can ensure pre-Christmas delivery by.
The company advised retailers to make the most of the festive shopping period by advertising effectively.
"Last year, we saw some major retail advertisers miss 80 per cent of their potential search traffic because their daily ad budgets were the same as the middle of the year. That's like forgetting to put your most popular product out on shelves during the busiest season of the year," says Ross McDonald, head of retail, Google Australia.
It has been suggested that the start of the Christmas shopping period will begin on November 25th, which is often referred to as Black Friday.
