GIS software launched

Sep 16 2008, 09:27 AM

A leading supplier of desktop GIS and geo-scientific software has unveiled the latest version of its flagship Discover GIS.

Encom, a subsidiary of Pitney Bowes, has announced that Discover version 10.0 will provide Australian companies with a total solution for data collection, analysis, modelling and visualisation in one integrated program.

The new software contains a host of updated capabilities including new gridding and surface functionality, extensive improvements to graphical mapping and time-saving data management and layout tools.

Encom explained in a statement that this software would help exploration geologists, as they are working with increasingly large datasets and need to be able to access information easily and quickly without spending hours converting and reformatting data.

In addition, Discover GIS 10.0 delivers a performance boost of up to 30 per cent in many data processing tools.

Encom was acquired by Pitney Bowes in December 2007 to provide advanced technical software and services to the natural resources sector.
