Data management software 'to transform British Airways'

Apr 15 2011, 14:41 PM

British Airways has chosen new data management software that it believes will revolutionise the way it is run.

The company is aiming to integrate all of the information it possesses in a bid to make its daily operations more efficient.

Among the significant challenges BA must face are the sheer volume of data and the significant number of sources it deals with.

Ian Johnston, IT operations manager at the carrier, said: "To control costs and boost profits in the face of intense competition and other market forces, British Airways needs to maximise its operational efficiency."

He went on to suggest the data management software to be put in place will assist the firm in achieving this, as well as improving its ability to respond to industry changes.

Robin Birtstone, writing for the Register, recently explained firms seeking to implement virtualisation technology at their headquarters must adopt an efficient data management system first.
