Customer profiles: Data centre set to expand
Jun 23 2011, 16:50 PM
Substantial expansion within government data centre panel member iseek will see more customer profiles stored at a new data centre in Brisbane.
The company is set to install 50 new racks in its new $3.5 million data centre, located next to the existing 70-rack facility in Woolloongabba, by September this year.
It is the first move in a massive $83.5 million expansion for the company, which will also see the construction of an 800-rack facility to add to the $44 million 430-rack Export Park facility, which was launched last summer.
Jason Gomersall, who is the managing director of iseek, told IT News: "Since the global financial crisis, the focus has shifted from capital expenditure to an annuity-based managed serviced model."
He added that the expansion reflected "phenomenal" growth in interest in managed infrastructure.
Other agencies included on the government's data centre panel include Equinix, Australian Data Centres and Enterprise Data Corporation.
