Cloud computing tipped to go mobile
Sep 23 2009, 23:27 PM
Users of cloud-based data management systems could soon be able to access them via mobile devices, an analyst has predicted.
According to Wailin Wong of the Chicago Tribune, cloud computing has allowed users to move data from a single machine to the internet.
This, she stated, has enabled people to access the information they require from any computer with a web connection.
However, an increasing number of consumers and businesses are making use of mobile web connections, prompting Ms Wong to suggest that cloud computing could soon become a wireless resource.
"Industry players expect the number of mobile cloud computing applications to grow rapidly over the next few years," she commented.
Ms Wong added that many consumers are already using some form of cloud technology, as they store information and photographs on social networking sites and web-based email accounts.
According to a recent study by Yankee Group, nearly one in three people with a web-enabled mobile phone regularly browse the mobile internet.
