Cloud computing switchovers 'require professional help'
- Feb 5 2010, 22:16 PM
Companies considering a switch to cloud computing services should enlist the help of industry professionals, it has been advised.
Writing for entrepreneurial website Inc, Linda Wilson, IT director for global public relations organisation The Hoffman Agency, explained that her company had recently completed a successful move to software-as-a-service technology.
She said the move had helped save time and money for her firm in a highly-effective manner.
But she had a word of advice for any business considering a similar adoption of cloud computing services get professionals to help.
"Just the task of importing emails from the legacy system into the cloud application is not for the squeamish," said Ms Wilson.
"You want to make sure you have someone at your side who has been through this exercise before."
Earlier this week, Tom Allanson, chief executive officer of business management consultancy Perfect Forms, told eBiz Q that cloud computing means that companies of any size can have access to the latest business technology.
