Cloud computing 'perfect for mid-sized companies'
Aug 31 2010, 16:00 PM
Cloud computing is likely to become increasingly important to mid-sized businesses over the next few years and they could reap significant financial rewards from the technology, an expert has suggested.
In an article for the CIO website, HyperStratus chief executive Bernard Golden suggested small companies can potentially lack the capital and manpower to make the most of cloud computing, but their slightly larger rivals could be in pole position.
"I believe that mid-sized companies may turn out to be the sweet spot of cloud computing," he explained. "There is a high probability that mid-sized companies will find cloud computing aligns extremely well with their focus."
Mr Golden acknowledged that individual requirements of different companies can differ greatly despite their superficial similarities, but suggested cloud computing could drive strong growth in the near future.
Earlier this month, a report from Springboard Research revealed that 24 per cent of businesses in Australia and New Zealand are already using cloud computing solutions, reported ZDNet.
