Cloud computing 'is very compelling for businesses'
Feb 11 2010, 23:09 PM
Cloud computing is very interesting to companies seeking to cut costs and improve efficiency, it has been suggested.
According to John Colley, managing director of ISC2, security experts must learn to deal with the new realities presented by cloud computing as many businesses are determined to adopt it, reports IT Pro.
"The business case for cloud computing is very compelling and it will happen with or without information security's blessing," he said. "The role for them to do is work out how to do it securely [and] look at how things can be done instead of why things can't be done."
Earlier this week, Mark White, chief technology officer of global consultancy Deloitte, told the Wall Street Journal that the use of cloud computing services saves money for businesses as they no longer have to operate their own servers.
He stated that enterprises could also cut costs by employing fewer systems administrators as a result.
