Australians want online shopping for Christmas
Nov 30 2011, 23:44 PM
Australians would think Christmas has come early if they were able to buy the bulk of their festive gifts online, according to new research.
A study by Galaxy Research for Appliances Online found that 83 per cent of the nation's population are happy shopping at ecommerce stores, with almost three-quarters opting to buy some Christmas gifts via the web, reports Power Retail.
A fifth plan to do all of their shopping online, completely avoiding the busy high street and shopping malls.
In total, just a fifth of people would not be happy shopping online this Christmas.
“In the past 24 months there’s been a huge surge towards online retail and the Australian offering and calibre of online sites has improved enormously,” said Appliances Online CEO John Winning.
“Prior to that Australia was lagging quite a bit behind the US and UK. As people have increasingly great experiences shopping online, we believe many more Australians will gain enough confidence to test online shopping."
A number of Australians have already started their Christmas ecommerce buying, logging on last Friday for 'Black Friday'.
